A big thank you to @immersivearts_uk for selecting and funding my project Immersed In Minds of Makers. I am one of 142 artist led projects across the UK to be allocated a share of over £2 million in the second round of Immersive Arts funding - a scheme supporting artists of all background and experience to work with immersive technologies.

Funded artists are working across a breadth of art forms including sound, music, theatre, dance, game design, visual arts, sculpture, photography, animation, architecture and film making. They will be working with a huge range of immersive technologies including virtual, augmented and mixed reality, 360 degree film, spatial sound, haptics and tactile interfaces, artificial intelligence, biofeedback and responsive environments.

My project Immersed In Minds of Makers aims to explore the working practices of artists and creative practitioners. The project seeks to place audiences within the maker’s world, exploring the spaces and environment where they live and work. Through intimate observation, the materials, concepts and intricate thought processes that underpin their work shall be presented as a layered and nuanced story using animation, digital video and spatial audio.

This film Cybolfa is about Brownen Gwillim @bronwengwillim, an artist who lives and works in Angle, Pembrokeshire, UK. Her work is based on using found materials from her immediate vicinity. She makes artworks and jewellery from repurposed plastic and natural ochre clay from the beaches and sea cliffs. Bronwen uses what is at hand and this is her way of moving away from consuming virgin materials from a rapidly depleting supply of natural resources and is a response to climate change in a more mindful way.
